Why Nam beach: the quiet side of Koh Phangan
Hidden beaches, jungle paths and no traffic. Close to the island's best-known beaches, a world away from the crowds.
Why Nam Villa is on Why Nam beach (also spelled Wai Nam) in the south of Koh Phangan, Surat Thani, Thailand, a short boat ride from the Haad Rin area. It is a 5 minute walk to Why Nam and Haad Thien beaches and about 10 minutes to Haad Yuan. There is no road to the villa: you arrive by taxi boat or 4x4 through the jungle.

Why Nam is a small beach in the south of Koh Phangan, Surat Thani, Thailand, reached by taxi boat or by 4x4 through the jungle. The villa is in the hillside above it.
Airbnb and some maps place the house under Haad Rin or Baan Thai (Ban Tai). That is only because they are the closest towns the platforms can show. The house is on Why Nam beach itself.

Why Nam beach stay

Haad Thien accommodation
The neighbouring beach, also 5 minutes away on foot. Easy to combine with Why Nam for swimming, sunsets and dinner.
Haad Yuan accommodation
A short jungle walk away. If you are looking for accommodation on Haad Yuan, staying in the hills between all three beaches gives you more privacy than any beachfront bungalow.
Near Haad Rin but quiet
Haad Rin is famous for the Full Moon Party. Many visitors want to be near it without living in it. Staying here is exactly that: near Haad Rin but quiet, with your nights spent in a jungle villa rather than a party strip.
Why Nam beach hosts parties and gatherings with music that can be heard from the villa. They start in the afternoon and finish early, around 10pm.
Where to stay on Koh Phangan for peace and quiet
Koh Phangan has a reputation for parties, but much of the island is calm. Boat-access coves and jungle hillsides like this one are the quiet side of Koh Phangan: swimming, hammocks, yoga and long sunsets.

Why Nam is a boat access only beach on Koh Phangan. Access to the beach is primarily by taxi boat, otherwise by 4-wheel drive through the jungle. The house cannot be reached by car or moped, and that is exactly what keeps this hidden beach on Koh Phangan unspoilt.
