An off-grid eco villa in Thailand, with real comforts

A solar powered eco villa on Koh Phangan: handmade from wood, fed by a jungle stream, and light on the land.

Why Nam Villa is a handmade wooden villa on Koh Phangan that runs on solar energy. Its water comes from a nearby jungle stream and passes through a six-stage reverse osmosis filter, and the villa still has hot showers, a full kitchen, Wi-Fi and daily cleaning. Boat or 4x4 access means no road traffic at the door.

How the villa works

  • Solar energy. The villa is powered by the sun.
  • Jungle stream water, filtered through a six-stage reverse osmosis system.
  • Hot showers with a small environmental footprint.
  • Handmade from wood, built into the hillside rather than on top of it.
  • Pools filled with waterfall water. Natural, so occasionally cloudy after rain, always fresh and clean.
  • Access by boat or 4x4 only, so no road traffic at the door.

It is an eco-friendly stay on Koh Phangan that is still comfortable: a king bed, a full kitchen, ceiling fans and daily cleaning.
